Sophie Bear is going to visit Colchester Zoo today. Her friends
in Westlands Early Years classes go every year but today Miss
Wellsbury was just taking her!
Sophie walked around the zoo meeting lots of new friends.
Hello - looks like a bad hair day for someone ...
"Wow!", said Sophie, "These look weird.".
Miss Wellsbury explained that they are warthogs. Just
like in the Lion King - said Sophie! |
Sophie met an Orangutang who was just finishing his
lunch. He doesn't look very happy - Sophie, stop waving
at him - you'll disturb his lunch!
"I'm hungry,", said Sophie, "even the
lioness has had a takeaway delivered look!". "Let
me explain," said Miss Wellsbury, "it's not
a takeaway - her keepers put her lunch in there so she
has to hunt for it. It's a game!". "Like hide
and seek?", "Yes." "I don't like my
food hidden - I just want lots of it!", said Sophie
- greedy bear! |
Everybody was having their lunch, even the giraffes!
Look how long his tongue is. Sophie held out a carrot
and he bent down and licked it up off her hand! "URGGGH
- slimey!", said Sophie!
"This tiger is old" said Sophie. Miss Wellsbury
told her that he is a white tiger. "But old people
have white hair!" |
Baby Kito likes playing games with people. "That
game looks fun" said Sophie.
Rosa is also expecting a baby but Sophie was disappointed
because she couldn't see her bump! "That might not
be Rosa" said Miss Wellsbury. |
Sophie was amazed at the owl. It could turn its head
all the way around. Sophie tried to copy but she hurt
herself and started to cry. What a silly bear!
