Today
is the switch on of the Southend Christmas Lights. It's very
exciting for Sophie and Sarah Bear.

Sophie
is practicing for her part in the Christmas play at
school. She has to sing about three kings riding on
their camels then do a dance. Luckily her friends Sarah,
Little Bear and Katy the Camel have come to help her
learn it.

Mrs
Keen shouts them all to come on and get their coats on. It's
time to drive down to Southend to see the lights switched
on.
"Why
do we have to go to Southend for that?" asked Sophie,
"we've got a light switch here!". Cheeky bear!

When
they got there, there were hundreds of people in the
street. Everyone counted down .. "10, 9, 8, 7,
6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1". Sophie and Sarah joined in and
as they said "1" all the lights came on!
Sophie
thought they were very pretty. "They are even better
than the ones on my house!"

Next
there were lots of big bangs. Sophie looked up to see
some pretty fireworks in the sky. "WOW!", she
shouted! |
| They
all came home very excited. The Essex FM radio station
was at the switch on and had given them all pretend reindeer
antlers to wear! |
