Sophie Bear and Mrs Keen have gone for a drive in the country.
Mrs Keen remembered a pretty village near Little Bear's first
school in Dunchurch, called Wolston. "They have a green,
a stream and some bridges." she told Sophie.
Sophie wanted to know if there was a chocolate shop but you
know how greedy she is!
|
|
They parked the car and went for a
walk around the village. There were two bridges over
the little stream. Sophie sat on one and looked down
- Careful Sophie - don't fall!
|
They also had an old red phonebox. "What's that
for?", asked Sophie, "It's for making phone
calls", answered Mrs Keen. "Why not use
your mobile?" "Not everyone has mobile phones
and sometimes they might be broken! In the days before
mobile phones everyone used payphone boxes like this
one."
"Oooh - you're old", said Sophie cheekily.
She laughed so much she nearly fell in the stream.
Then she decided to try out the phone box and call
her Grandma who was on holiday.
|
|
Then they went into Birmingham, which is a big city like
London. It has lots of shops and restaurants. They even found
a very special one that made doughnuts. Sophie pressed her
snout up against the glass and watched them coming down the
line! "Yum!"
|
|
Mrs Keen bought a big box full of doughnuts to take
home. Sophie even got a balloon which she was really
pleased with. She kept waving it in the car on the
way home.

Parent's
Note
|
Sophie visited Wolston, nr Dunchurch first. She recommends
visiting the village centre where there is a very
pretty little green, a stream and two bridges. Limited
parking on the roadside but it is free!
Then Sophie went into Birmingham City Centre to Selfridges
Krispy Kreme factory. She parked in the Pallasades
NCP but watch out as car parking is pricey. Better
to park out and get the train.
